I want to organize and understand my company’s processes

A catalog to know what exists and where it fits.

A process catalog keeps the processes you know, their purpose and context in one place. It gives everyone a shared reference when knowledge is spread across people, teams and documents.

ATLAS shows the same processes in a searchable catalog and a hierarchy map. Search and filter in the catalog, or use the map to move from the big picture to the details.

The structure of a fictitious organization

A hierarchy explains what a process consists of.

Aurora Service handles service requests. In this example, each block represents a separate process or subprocess; departments may be associated areas, but do not replace process names.

  • N1Handle service requests
    • N2Register requests
    • N2Evaluate requests
      • N3Review documentation
      • N3Check eligibility
    • N2Resolve requests
    • N2Manage corrections

Lines indicate decomposition, not execution order. Each block represents a separate process or subprocess.

How to read N1, N2 and N3

N1 · Main process
Handle service requests brings together the general scope to be organized.
N2 · Decomposition of N1
Register, evaluate and resolve requests, and manage corrections, have their own identities and purposes within that scope.
N3 · Decomposition of an N2
Review documentation and Check eligibility decompose Evaluate requests in this fictitious case.

These levels are a way to organize processes in ATLAS, not a rule for every organization. If you do not know where a process fits yet, leave it as Unclassified.

A subprocess is not every individual work step.

Consulting a document, checking its date and recording the check are activities that might form part of Review documentation. They do not automatically become N3 nodes.

What you can do today

Preserve context, find it and maintain it.

Browse the catalog

Search processes and filter by level, area or owner. Identify those already classified and those still needing a position.

Explore the architecture

View the map as a tree or columns, browse levels and locate a process in its hierarchy.

Maintain process records

Edit name, description, purpose, area and owner. View relationships and the history of manual changes; archive or restore when references allow it.

Two complementary questions

Organizing and connecting are different perspectives.

ATLAS

Which processes does my company have, and how are they organized?

Discover the ATLAS catalog →

RETICULUM

How do these processes connect from start to finish?

Discover RETICULUM journeys →

The processes you organize in ATLAS can take part in RETICULUM journeys. In the example, Register requests, Evaluate requests and Resolve requests are the same processes as in the catalog.

If you need to analyze a problem before choosing an improvement, POLARIS helps you understand the gap and investigate its causes.
